FAQs

Why are you cancelling?

  • Due to the ongoing uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic, affecting international travel, ability to host events and people’s confidence in travelling.
  • In addition, the current capacity limit of 250 people would not allow us to run either event to the standard, in terms of participant numbers, that we would expect of ourselves.
  • Safety of our attendees and partners is our number one priority and although we feel strongly that we could deliver a ‘covid secure’ event, the number of participants informing us that they would not be able to travel or take part was increasing, so we also had to assess the viability of running a successful event with limited numbers.
  • Although covid-19 cases are now lower in South Africa and international business travel was allowed from 1st October, the situation around the world is still uncertain and it is extremely difficult to plan with confidence and be sure that we could host a meaningful event in February.

Why are you not postponing?

  • It would only make sense to postpone up to 3 months post the original dates to avoid impacting the 2022 edition and with the global pandemic situation changing so frequently it would be impossible to give our clients confidence that the event could still go ahead in March, April or May.

What will be happening in February?

  • We are committed to serving the mining community and will be announcing our new virtual programme shortly. Please stay tuned for further announcements and how you can participate. This will be finalised and communicated in the coming weeks.

When is the next face to face event taking place?

  • The next edition of Mining Indaba will take place on 7-10 February 2022, CTICC, Cape Town

Will Investing in African Mining Indaba and Africa Oil Week be running together in the future?

  • We are now reverting back to our previous schedule which sees AOW take place in November and MI continuing its February dateline.
  • With synergies between the two shows we will continue showcase areas that make strategic sense for our customers. If you serve both the oil & gas and mining industries, we encourage you to engage with us and discuss how each event meet your objectives.

What else are Investing in African Mining Indaba and Africa Oil Week doing throughout the year that I can get involved in?

  • We have a variety of digital opportunities to participate in and sponsor. Including: topical webinars, industry reports and surveys and thought leadership content.
  • Should be it feasible then we are also aiming to bring groups of likeminded delegates together for networking, learning and sharing in a face to face setting. Please stay tuned to our announcements to find out more.
  • Please contact your account manager for further information.
